Updating the Methodology section of English Raven
Hi there,
This is just a notice to let site visitors know that I'm in the process of giving the extensive methodology section of the English Raven site a rather large clean-up and adding some much needed additions.
Most of the referred-to textbooks in this section have come out with new (and much better, I must say) editions since the methodology section was originally put together - way back in 2002! - so they need to be updated and it could take some time.
I've also been meaning to add new sections about things like content-based instruction, task based learning, learning strategy training, and multiple intelligences. There are also some YL-specific things I want to add in the form of Piagetian theories, Bruner's concepts about formats, routines and scaffolding, and the ever-relevant theories of Vygotsky. In addition, I have my 'own' method/approach to add - something I call SBL (Skills Based Learning - though not entirely sure I could have the right to say I coined that term), epitomized in the new 20-book textbook series I've just had published with Pearson Longman.
So lots to do, will take a lot of time, but all very worthwhile. The methodology section of English Raven is one of the most heavily visited parts of the site, and it gives me a lot of heart to know there are so many teachers out there in the world looking to increase their knowledge base.
In the meantime, feel free to post any thoughts or questions here in the forum.
Take care,
Jason
